Khesed is generated purely by the character of the person demonstrating it when they fulfill their commitments to another person in their family or kinship network. We're going to move into the fourth attribute that God assigns Himself, which is translated different ways (00:03:00) I suppose sometimes. This word occurs almost 250 times. Tim: Mercy. the gracious and compassionate. Tim: Apparently. It's of covenant partner, you're motivated by love and affection, you do concrete acts. Carissa: Because it describes that kind of love that's a commitment and a choice and a desire all in one. Agape is about actions to seek another (00:12:00) person's wellbeing. He goes to a well. Tim: And the bringing down of oppressive rulers. Jon: It could feel a little contractual.

Its the difference between saying the words I love you and acting in honor of your commitment to another person by serving them. There's many (00:35:00) other examples. David adopts the grandson of his enemy, the son of his deceased friend, and cares for this disabled boy for the rest of his life.
